One of my very favourite bosses used to say that you could never know someone truly, until you worked with them or married them!
Almost the same with the brands and ranges we choose for our webshop.
We really like a style, fall in love sometimes!
It's only when we put it on sale we find out the truth.

Good News

Recently we bought an end of line from a most reputable importer / brand leader, who must be un-named.
This item, a travel bag, is still on sale on the internet through other sellers for up to £150.

We bought the last forty in brown from the supplier, and sold them at £59.95... very quickly.
That's great, we've had a fast turn round, and there's forty more happy customers telling everyone about our shop.

The Bad News

Except... the leather zip-pullers came off two bags, a third had two rivets missing, and a fourth had a faulty shoulder strap fitting.
Four out of forty... that's 10% complaints...
THAT IS AWFUL.!!
So we used one bag for spares, and solved all the problems, fast.

Guess who won't be getting another order from us.

Selling a wide range of leather man bags, messenger bags and courier styles you'd expect to hear that from The Mansbag Shop. However there's lots of reasons why the man bag has taken its place as a must-have item.

"Leather Briefcases, Brands vs Value"

In all the fiasco of Politicians' expense claims, I was most interested to see that one MP
spent £199.50 on a REPAIR to his leather briefcase, and another £755 on a new one.

Our most expensive leather briefcase is £110 ....

Often, we do get calls to ask if our quality is any good, as our prices seem too low.

Happily, we can just direct people to our testimonials information page.
If you take a minute or two there, you'll be quite sure of our very high standards.

Also we get asked what brands we sell?

My views on brands are :-
Most are excellent quality...BUT not best value...the customer pays a lot to towards that logo's advertising budget..
Some brands are very ordinary, and just a few downright shoddy.

You'll be interested to know that various brands will not supply this company.
They prefer to sell through "bricks and mortar" retail outlets that keep to Recommended Retail Prices. [ i.e. too much from our viewpoint ]

We only recommend one price, the lowest possible !
You get excellent quality and value.
We sell a lot, and get more testimonials, and our business grows.

"LEATHER TRAVEL BAGS" - JUNE 2009

New designs of leather cabin bags, computer cases and travel bags are constantly under review.

There was a time last year when smaller PCs seemed to be in vogue. We were being asked for "netbook" bags. That was OK, as we just adapted some of our smaller mens bags.

However, bigger screen PCs are becoming much more common now. Our customers have been asking for larger cases, not just up to 17 inch, but well above.

We've designed and approved samples of a range of travel bags which will accommodate 20 inch laptops. A briefcase can only be so big...so the new styles are really cabin size bags.
These should be ideal for all business travellers.

Sorry, it does take three months from drawing board to appearing in our webshop,
so it'll be September when you see them. And sorry again, we'll not be able to say anything more, as believe it or not, our competitors take a flattering interest in all that we do!

On the other hand, if you have any good ideas you want to share, we're always listening, designing and trying to meet customers needs.

"Leather Wallets, Purses and Gifts" - May 2009

Leather handbags and leather wallets are two product areas we've been looking at for some time,
and quite a few of our customers have pointed us in this direction.

Leather handbags are problematic, as quite simply there are too many brands, styles and colour options, which are constantly changing... and we'd be spending a lot of time sourcing and doing photography...and we know there are always big write-offs when the fashion moves on.

For the moment, we've decided to launch a range of about thirty leather wallets and purses.
These will be on the site later this month. Prices will be from £10 - £20, and all styles smartly presented in good quality boxes.

About half our sales are as gifts for friends, relatives or colleagues, and hopefully the new collection should suit our customers looking for a good quality gift under £20.

There will be a range of leathers, traditional smooth calf and grained finishes, and also including some "mud" brown styles that match our very successful man bags.
